Chinese company Xiaomi teased the launch of a new product over the weekend, and many believed the OEM would launch the Redmi Note Prime.

Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime was originally launched in China back in August, but it looks like the smartphone hasn't been as popular as the Chinese handset maker had expected.

This is probably one of the reasons Xiaomi brought the Redmi Note Prime in India where customers will be able to purchase it for just Rs 8,499 ($128 / €115).

However, if you plan on buying the Redmi Note Prime, then you should know the smartphone will be exclusively available in the country via Amazon India and Xiaomi's official website beginning December 15.

For those unfamiliar with Redmi Note Prime's main features, here is a quick rundown of what it has to offer regarding specs.

The specs

First of all, Xiaomi's budget-friendly smartphone comes with both 4G LTE and dual-SIM support. Also, the device sports a large 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution).

Hardware-wise, the handset comes equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, an Adreno 306 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

The Redmi Note Prime packs 16GB of storage inside, which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

At the back, the smartphone features a 13-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, but there's also a secondary 5-megapixel camera in the front for selfies and video calls.

When it comes to connectivity, Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime offers the usual features including 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with AGPS and USB OTG (on-the-go). The phone is powered by a removable 3,100 mAh battery.

“With the launch of Redmi Note Prime, we are glad to provide our Mi Fans an opportunity to upgrade to an even more powerful smartphone with an expanded memory and dual-SIM capabilities.

“Local manufacturing shows Xiaomi’s commitment to being a part of the fabric of India and we are truly excited to roll out our second ‘Made In India’ offering for our Mi fans,” said Manu Jain, India Head, Xiaomi.
