Xiaomi has recently launched the Redmi Note 3 phablet, which is already selling in China. However, the company has yet to unveil the next device in the Redmi series.

The very popular Xiaomi Redmi 2 doesn't have a confirmed successor yet, but we suspect the Chinese company will announce the next smartphone in the family as early as next year.

However, a benchmark showing some of the phone's specs and overall performance has just appeared online. According to a new report coming from TechGrapple, the device in question, Xiaomi Kenzo, is none other that Redmi 3.

The Kenzo has recently been spotted at Geekbench 3, so even if you don't choose your smartphone using these benchmarks, it's pretty interesting to find out what specs the device might include.

First of all, the prototype tested runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system, which is kind of disappointing, considering many handset makers are already launching Marshmallow-powered devices.

Hopefully, the Redmi 3 will be released with a new version of Android if Xiaomi wants to remain competitive in the mid-range segment.

Furthermore, Xiaomi Redmi 3 comes equipped with a 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor and 2GB of RAM. Although the benchmark reports the chipset used inside the Kenzo has six cores only, it must be a mistake.

Possible specs

According to previous rumors, the Redmi 3 should pack a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.

It might also pack a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, along with a secondary 5-megapixel selfie camera on the front.

The Redmi 3 should feature 16GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion. It will also offer dual-SIM support and probably 4G LTE, too.

There's no word on availability and price yet, but you can expect it to be slightly more expensive than the previous model.
