Unveiled back in March, the original Xiaomi Redmi 2A made it to market one month later. The smartphone is still available for purchase in China, but it hasn't been released in too many other countries.

One of the reasons might be the fact that the Chinese company has just released an improved version of the Redmi 2A which, hopefully, will be launched in more countries.

For the time being, Xiaomi Redmi 2A Enhanced Edition is available for purchase in China for only 550 yuan outright, which is about $85 or €75, a new report confirms.

There are major differences between the original Redmi 2A and the Enhanced Edition model, especially concerning the amount of memory.

While Xiaomi Redmi 2A packs 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which puts it in the affordable category, the Enhanced Edition comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage.

It's available in four colors: Light Green, Pink, Dark Gray and Yellow

That should make the Redmi 2A Enhanced Edition a decent mid-range Android smartphone with a very low price (at least in China).

Apart from that, Xiaomi Redmi 2A Enhanced Edition comes with a different processor. For those unaware, the original Redmi 2A is equipped with a 1.5GHz quad-core Leadcore L1860C processor, while the new model is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor.

The rest of the Xiaomi Redmi 2A Enhanced Edition specs remain the same as the original model, including the 4.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and the 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back.

Also, the smartphone comes preloaded with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system right out of box along with MIUI 6.0 on top of it.

It offers both dual-SIM and 4G LTE support, and it's powered by a 2,200 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.
