Xiaomi fans are probably anxious to learn more about the company's upcoming Mi5 flagships smartphone, which is supposed to be unveiled early next year.

Although the device was previously rumored to arrive in December, the Chinese company has decided to push the release date into next year, telling customers that it will be worth the wait.

Over the weekend, an official picture of the Xiaomi Mi5 was published online so that we could have a look at what the smartphone would look like.

Today, another press render of the alleged device has just popped in China. As GizmoChina points out, the new picture comes with another piece of information that might or might not be accurate.

It looks like Xiaomi has decided to finally unveil the Mi5 on January 21. If that's the case, it means the handset won't be launched at CES 2016, which is scheduled to kick off in early January.

Also, Xiaomi Mi5 won't be announced during MWC 2016, another major trade fair where most handset makers unveil their most important products for the first half of the year.

The physical Home button might hide a traditional fingerprint scanner

Another piece of information that hasn't been confirmed yet comes from Pan Jiutang, another analyst willing to throw some light on the Xiaomi Mi5's main features.

According to him, Xiaomi's flagship smartphone won't pack Qualcomm's latest UltraSonic fingerprint scanner, which the company is so proud of. This technology will work smoothly on any metal-clad smartphone or tablet.

Obviously, this doesn't mean that the Mi5 won't incorporate a fingerprint scanner, just that it might not be the one recently announced by Qualcomm.

Other rumors that haven't yet been put to rest by Xiaomi hint at a Snapdragon 820 processor, 5.2-inch display and Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Force Touch technology under the hood.

Even though this will be Xiaomi's flagship smartphone, the most expensive model might not cost more than $400 outright.
