Qualcomm will unveil its chipset on November 20

It looks like Xiaomi Mi5 is still on track for a 2015 release, at least that's what the latest rumors claim. The smartphone was initially delayed onto early 2016 due to the fact that Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 won't be available until next year.

However, a new report coming from China claims Qualcomm plans to officially release the Snapdragon 820 chipset on November 20, GforGames points out.

Following the launch of Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, Xiaomi is expected to unveil its new flagship smartphone, the Mi5, on December 3.

Unfortunately, there's no telling whether or not the Xiaomi Mi5 will be available for purchase next month. The Chinese company might announce the smartphone and make it available for purchase only in early 2016, but that remains to be seen.

Another possible outcome would be the release of another Xiaomi Mi5 variant equipped with MediaTek's powerful deca-core Helio X20 processor, which could go on sale in early December.

Another version powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset could hit shelves sometime in January or February 2016.

It should be priced at around $315 (€275) outright

Since the smartphone will be initially introduced in China, it will probably take some time until it reaches other countries.

The good news is many Chinese online retailers are likely to offer the Xiaomi Mi5 long before the smartphone is officially introduced in other countries.

There aren't too many details known about Xiaomi Mi5's specs sheet, aside from the fact that it will come with 4GB RAM and either 16GB or 32GB of internal memory.

It will also sport a 5.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display that could support either full HD (1080p) or Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.

More tips about the Mi5's specs point out that the smartphone might boast a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera and a secondary 8-megapixel selfie camera in the front. A USB Type C port will be included as well.
