Not many things are known about Xiaomi's upcoming flagship smartphone, the Mi 5. Even though there have been a few leaks suggesting the handset will be packed with a powerful CPU and large amounts of RAM, nothing is certain for the moment.

That's because the Mi 5 was still early in development and Xiaomi probably tested several hardware configurations before getting the final version.

One of the last rumors about the Xiaomi Mi 5 claimed the smartphone will boast an edge-to-edge display, possibly of Quad HD resolution.

Today, GSMArena reports a new teaser image has been leaked from China, which confirms the smartphone will be unveiled this year.

The image also suggests the Xiaomi Mi 5 will pack a fingerprint scanner, which doesn't really come as a surprise since most flagships have one.

Unfortunately, that's all we get from the teaser image, so we're left with all the previous rumors that seem more like speculations. The good news is some of them make sense, so here are some of the most believable.

Snapdragon 810, Snapdragon 820 or MediaTek Helio X20?

Xiaomi Mi 5 will sport a Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display possibly at 5.3-inch. When it comes to the chipset powering the smartphone, things are a bit trickier since rumors claim the Mi 5 might be equipped with either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 or Snapdragon 820 processor.

Other sources even claim the smartphone will, in fact, be packed with a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 CPU. Hopefully, we'll get more details on this one in the coming weeks.

Also, Xiaomi Mi 5 is said to come with a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera, which will feature OIS (optical image stabilization). We also know the smartphone will pack USB Type-C port and no less than 4GB of RAM.

This is all we got about Xiaomi Mi 5, but as we're getting near launch, more info is likely to emerge, so stay tuned.
