The company has come up with another fast charging system

How fast is too fast when it comes to charging our phones? Well, if you’re the kind of person who uses the device all the time and regularly unlocks it to just look at the home screen, then you’d probably want your battery to be recharged in the blink of an eye.

While we’re not there just yet, we may not be too far either. Xiaomi has recently come up with a new technology that allowed the company to reach a massive milestone.

A 4,000 mAh battery can be recharged in just under 8 minutes, all thanks to the so-called 200W HyperCharge system.

The company has provided a demo on a custom Mi 11 Pro to show how the whole thing, and wow, the thing is fast. The 200W system needs only three minutes to provide the device with 50% of battery power, and then go all the way to 100 percent in 5 more minutes. That’s impressive, to say the least, though it’d also be interesting to find out if the new tech has any impact on battery degradation in the long term and whether it causes any kind of overheating or not.

Still in testing phase

But the 200W HyperCharge seems to be an evolution of the 120W HyperCharge system, which is also capable of providing insane charging speeds.

A 4,000 mAh battery can be recharged by the 120W system in only 15 minutes, requiring only 7 minutes to reach 50 percent.

Xiaomi hasn’t provided any information as to when it plans to bring the new system to the masses, but the company most likely needs more time to make sure everything is working just properly.

Because as I said, a faster charging system means an increased likelihood of premature battery degradation and overheating, so Xiaomi needs to spend more time taking care of these risks before bringing it to the market.
