14 DAY TRIAL // Last month, Xiaomi revealed the Mi Max and MIUI 8 in Beijing, and while the device and the firmware were only available in China, today the company has decided to release the MIUI 8 globally. During an event held in India, Xiaomi has also introduced the Mi Max to fans in the country.
The global version of MIUI 8 comes with some new features compared to the version that was released a month back and that, in turn, brought some changes in the notification drawer, adding a consolidated list and a weather panel that has the capacity to change its color and employ some animation, depending on the current weather conditions.
It also arrives with an interesting feature that allows users to take multiple screenshots and then paste them together in one image.
Moreover, MIUI 8 comes with a tool that enables users to run two instances of the same app on their phones, one for work and one for personal use, for example. The same can be done with Dual Spaces, which lets users run two workspaces on their handsets.
MIUI 8 stable version will be released on August 16
The public beta of MIUI 8 is set to debut on July 11, and a stable version will see the light of day on August 16. MIUI 8 public beta version is compatible with Xiaomi Mi 5, Mi Max, Mi Note, Mi 4i, Mi 4, Mi 3, Mi 2, Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note Prime, Redmi Note, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi 2, and Redmi 1s.
MIUI 8 is Xiaomi's firmware that is based on Android OS, and the company has announced 200 million people use its MIUI, according to Android Headlines.
Xiaomi has also launched Mi Max in India, with the device to be sold in two variants, one with Snapdragon 650 and 3Gb of RAM coupled with 32GB of storage while the other with Snapdragon 652, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. The former will go on sale for $222 whereas the latter will cost $296, both projected to be introduced on July 13.
