XCOM 2 is one of the most interesting video game launches of early 2016, and the development team at Firaxis is ready to give all those who are planning to engage with it access to a special set of recruits, based on those who have worked on the experience over the past few years.

To get access to them, gamers will have to get into the game once it is unlocked, select the Character Pool, select the import option and then choose the developer pool before hitting the Import button.

A full look at the recruits based on Firaxis development can be seen on an official Imgur account, and this is a great way of showing the power of the character creation system that will be featured in XCOM 2.

The title is set to unlock for all gamers in Europe at 11:01 Greenwich Mean Time on February 4 while those who picked it up in North America will have to wait until 12:01 AM Eastern Time.

Until then players can pre-load the title to make sure that they can start playing as soon as all the content associated with it is unlocked.

A new video associated with XCOM 2 also shows gamers their new mobile base, the Avenger, which they will have to carefully manage and tweak during the course of the campaign to get the resources that they need to take out the alien threat.

Firaxis wants to offer a deep and replayable experience

The development team says that it has listened to all the feedback that the community has delivered after playing the first installment in the rebooted series and wants to address all its problems.

The maps in XCOM 2 will be different each time the player executes a mission and both the classes for the human soldiers and the enemy units that they will face have been tweaked to introduce new abilities.

Stealth is now a major part of the experience because the player needs to rely on guerrilla tactics to defeat the aliens that now dominate Earth and have a bigger plan for the human race.

XCOM 2 will also force gamers to adapt to the fact that losses are impossible to avoid as they seek to secure the resources they need to improve their forces and field squads that can deal with the most powerful enemy forces.

The title will also feature extensive modding opportunities, with the team behind the Long War offering access to three mods at launch which have the potential to introduce even more variety when it comes to the campaign.

The team has not yet said whether they are planning to also create a complete overhaul for the new turn-based strategy experience, but an announcement might arrive soon.

XCOM 2 is only offered on the PC, mainly because home consoles lack the power to deliver the procedurally generated maps, and gamers can pick up a special Reinforcement pack, which opens up access to three downloadable content packs that will be launched all through 2016.
