Gamers will have to use stealth to deal with them

XCOM 2 is built upon the premise that the aliens succeeded in the initial assault against Earth and the first trailer for the title suggested that there are a number of humans who are ready to work with their new overlords and will be enemies of the player-controlled organization.

Now the development team at Firaxis is ready to offer more information about the Advent, who are the human collaborationist forces that are guardians of the big new cities where most of the population lives, apparently without having to deal with disease.

The company tells IGN that the new force is not linked with the Exalt from the first re-imagined XCOM, but their origin story is not detailed at the moment.

Garth DeAngelis, the leading producer, explains, "This is the front line of the alien’s sort of veil that they're putting on in these city centers. This is their military force that keeps order and makes sure that the civilians are staying in line."

The Advent forces are humans but they have clearly been modified, possibly on a genetic level, in order to communicate with the aliens and a side effect is their yellow blood.

They will use powerful armor tech and can use magnetic weaponry that the player will initially be unable to research on his own.

XCOM 2 is focused on expanding on all core mechanics

The Advent forces can also deploy special Captains and they can both improve surrounding troopers and focus their fire on one target, which means that gamers will have to be more careful and move around stealthily until they are able to deliver a solid blow.

XCOM 2 will also include plenty of new alien enemies that gamers will have to face and they will be able to control a set of new character classes, including a mysterious one that Firaxis is not willing to talk about.

The turn-based strategy game will also use procedurally generated levels that offer bigger battlefields and the combat system is being reworked to give gamers more options.

Firaxis is also promising more customization options for soldiers and a new transportable base that can be upgraded in interesting ways.

XCOM 2 will be launched on the PC in November of this year.
