The team at Microsoft in charge of the Xbox One is announcing that it is planning to launch a new firmware update for the home console relatively soon, but it seems that the changes will be minor ones and that gamers should not expect much novelty other than a few fixes.

The information comes from the official Twitter account of Mike Ybarra, who says that it might take about one week for the update to be introduced on the platform but he did not go into details about the changes the company is planning to make.

It's unclear whether Microsoft is planning to offer clear information about the changes it is making to the Xbox One or if it will only say that it is improving the performance and the stability of the device when it finally delivers the new firmware.

The company has already said that it is working on a set of bigger changes for its gaming system that will be delivered when the Anniversary edition of the Windows 10 operating system is launched at some point during the summer.

The plan is to improve the UWP ecosystem to get access to more applications and to unify the store for the Xbox One and the PC in order to give players access to more content, while also offering versions of more titles for both devices.

Microsoft is working with the community to improve the home console

At the moment, various sources are saying that the Xbox One is a little over or under the 20 million units in sales mark and the team in charge of it needs to use new features added via firmware to improve the attractiveness of the platform.

Members of the Preview program will get to test any new applications or core functionality, and all those playing with one of the home consoles can offer feedback and explain what kind of new features they want to get access to next.

In the fall of this year, The Coalition and Microsoft are planning to launch a major exclusive Gears of War 4, which should be capable of boosting overall sales while bringing the classic franchise to a new home console.

The increased links between the Xbox One and the PC should also make the device more appealing to gamers and it will be interesting to see whether Microsoft and Sony reach an agreement about offering cross-platform play between their two platforms.
