The game now features more than 3,400 new animations

After the WWE 2K20 fiasco and the canned 2K21, we were told several months ago that we will get another WWE game, namely 2K22 no later than this year. Unfortunately, it looks like WWE 2K22, just like many other games this year, has been pushed into 2022.

During WWE’s SummerSlam 2021 broadcast on August 21, 2K and Visual Concepts revealed WWE 2K22 is currently scheduled for release in March 2022. The reveal was made with an electrifying video package of WWE 2K22 gameplay featuring WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio, as well as a first glance at Roman Reigns, Goldberg, Bayley, Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre, The Miz, Sheamus, Shinsuke Nakamura, Rhea Ripley, Finn Bálor, Ricochet and Kane.

This time around, 2K and Visual Concepts promise their game will feature new controls, incredible graphics, and a redesigned engine. Although the publisher calls it “the most impressive WWE 2K experience to date,” it’s hard to give it credit considering what happened with the franchise in the last few years.

We’re also being informed that as part of the game’s development process, 85% of the in-game roster has taken part in facial scanning for ultra-realistic and updated character models, and more than 3,400 new animations have been captured.

Although we are promised more details in January 2022, 2K did left us with a 30-second teaser trailer that claims “it hits different.” Unfortunately, the trailer doesn’t convince us that WWE 2K22 will be as impressive as 2K wants us to believe, but it’s miles away from the WWE 2K20 disaster. The best way to regain fans’ trust is to release a demo before the game launches in March, but that’s wishful thinking.

While the announcement doesn’t contain any references to platforms, we can safely assume WWE 2K22 will be launched on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
