Microsoft has released a new update for the Windows Subsystem for Android on Windows 11 – the new pack of improvements lands as the typical monthly release aimed at WSA.

The November 2022 update goes live as build 2210.40000.7.0, and it is available today in the Dev and Beta channels of the Windows Insider program.

This month’s release, however, isn’t as massive as others, as it includes Chromium 106, as well as other smaller improvements aimed at the camera and the general performance of WSA on Windows 11.

The following changes are part of the latest update:

  • Enhancement of audio recording quality
  • Enhancement of OAuth scenarios
  • Support for MPEG2 decoding
  • Improvements to the camera experience when the device is not equipped with a camera
  • Improvements in input reliability
  • Chromium update to 106

Android apps on Windows 11

Microsoft is now offering Android apps on Windows 11 in specific regions. The experience is powered by the Amazon Appstore, and it went live earlier this year for Windows 11 2022 Update devices – keep in mind, however, that this feature update is now rolling out.

“To get started, simply head to the Microsoft Store on Windows app. We made it even simpler to discover Android apps and games. Like any other content, you will now find them in editorials and search results, you will see them in inline ratings and reviews, and you will be able to share a link to your favorite app with your friends,” Microsoft said.

“The Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) continues to get better each month thanks to developer feedback. In the latest release, you will enjoy 2-3 times faster graphic performance with hardware acceleration, DRM video support, improved input handling across touch, mouse and keyboard, and several network and security improvements.
