The team at Blizzard working on World of Warcraft is announcing that it is planning to launch the new Legion expansion for the massively multiplayer online title on August 30, offering gamers a range of new content that will include both new storylines and unique mechanics.

The main addition is a new Demon Hunter class, which will be introduced for all those who place a pre-order for the package before the launch date, and the studio is also offering a level 100 character boost that will allow one of their avatars to explore everything the expansion has to offer right away.

Mike Morhaime, chief executive officer and co-founder of Blizzard, states on the official site that, "This expansion is loaded with features and content that give players whole new ways to explore the world and customize their heroes. We’re looking forward to sending everyone into battle against the Burning Legion this August."

The story of the new expansion for World of Warcraft will see Gul'dan and his powerful forces invade the world of Azeroth and heroes for both the Horde and the Alliance will have to band together and get through a series of tough battles to have a chance to stop the assault.

Legion comes with some extra content

For those who pre-order Blizzard is also offering early access, although it is unclear on what date at the moment, and a chance to explore the new area of Mardum and see what the Demon Hunter class has to offer.

The Digital Deluxe edition for Legion is priced at 70 dollars or Euro and comes complete with the special mount and pet for World of Warcraft, modeled on an Illidari Felstalker, and gamers also get access to a Felstalker mount that can be used in Heroes of the Storm, a transmogrification for wings in Diablo 3 and special portraits for Starcraft 2.

Another Collector's Edition offers the same bonuses but also features a hardcover art book, a behind-the-scenes documentary about the expansion, a customized mouse pad, and the soundtrack.

Legion will also introduce the Broken Isles continent for gamers to explore and there are new artifact weapons for gamers to collect and to use, which can be upgraded and customized.

The World of Warcraft expansion will also add an Honor system for PvP engagements and a Clan Hall that will allow players to interact with important figures from the history of the series and engage in unique missions.
