Woody Harrelson is perhaps one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood, what with his charming gap-toothed smile, his blue eyes and the intensity he emanates when he challenges his acting muscle in roles other than the goofy (older) friend.

With his next project, Woody will prove that he too can get lost in a role, literally so. He is now shooting for the upcoming biopic “LBJ,” directed by Rob Reiner and scheduled for a tentative release in 2016, and on-set photos have started making the rounds online - and getting people talking.

That’s because Harrelson is barely recognizable in the role of the US President, as you can see in the photo above as well. The Daily Mail has plenty more pics, confirming that this will probably be Woody’s most challenging role to date.

The transformation from Harrelson to Johnson was made possible by many hours in the makeup chair, having facial prosthetics applied, but also with the help of a hairpiece, a costume and high-platform shoes.

Acting through prosthetics is not an easy task, as Leonardo DiCaprio found out in 2012 with “J. Edgar,” where he played Edgar Hoover. Despite his hardest efforts, towards the end of the film, he simply could not emote convincingly enough through the thick layer of prosthetics and makeup, necessary to turn him into an old man.

Hopefully, Harrelson will have more success with it. “LBJ” also stars Jennifer Jason Leigh plays as the First Lady.
