Two more banks wave goodbye to Windows phones

Windows Phone’s developer base is shrinking, just like the user base itself, and Microsoft isn’t willing to do anything to stop this from happening, as the company itself admitted that no new phones and features are on the radar for its mobile platform.

The latest two devs to wave goodbye to Windows phones are two different banks, both of which will continue to focus on Android and iOS because this is where the future on mobile seems to be.

Banks switching to Android and iOS

First of all, it’s Brazilian bank Nubank, which says goodbye to Windows Phone because Microsoft is no longer supporting the platform. What’s even worse is that while in most cases developers leaving Windows phones point users to their mobile websites, Nubank can’t do that because it lacks such a portal optimized for mobile devices.

And second of all, it’s Turkish bank Türkiye İş Bankası, also known as “the Turkish Bank for Foreigners and Expats,” which has decided to focus on Android and iOS exclusively starting with March 2018.

Unfortunately for Windows phone diehards who were still using these apps, not much can be done at this point, and without app support, their only choices are to check their bank accounts from a desktop PC or switch to Android or iOS.

The latter is the most logical step for the majority of Windows phone users who still stick with the platform, as sooner or later, all developers will switch to Android and iOS.

Windows 10 Mobile will continue to receive security updates until mid-2019, and after reaching EOL, the platform’s going be dead for good. Microsoft is believed to be working on a new mobile device that could be the mythical Surface Phone, but in this case, there’s a big chance that the operating system powering it won’t be Windows 10 Mobile, but the full version of Windows 10, most likely in ARM clothes.
