So you can easily activate the new operating system

Windows 11 is Microsoft’s latest and greatest version of the operating system, and needless to say, it’s also the company’s only recommendation when it comes to users who are planning to upgrade their devices.

With Windows 7 approaching its end (the operating system is no longer getting updates since January 2020, but it’s been serviced as part of the ESU program for companies), the number of Windows users who upgrade is likely to increase, especially among businesses.

The good news is that activating Windows 11 is still possible with a Windows 7 product key, as Neowin is reporting that the method that worked like a charm in Windows 10 is still alive today. In other words, even if you move from Windows 7 to Windows 11 (though the updated system requirements wouldn’t allow for such an upgrade), you should be able to activate the operating system with your old product key.

The Windows 11 rollout

At this point, Windows 11 has already reached version 22H2, with the officially-called 2022 Update currently rolling out to users across the world.

The broad availability phase should be reached at some point in early 2023, with Microsoft explaining not a long time ago that it’s accelerating the rollout to more devices out there.

“We are entering a new phase of the rollout for Windows 11, version 22H2 and we are increasing its availability to all who check for updates on eligible Windows devices. Note that, if we detect that your device might have an issue, such as an application incompatibility, we might put a safeguard hold in place and not offer the update until that issue is resolved. Information regarding safeguard holds is available below on this page. Users who are interested in experiencing the latest feature update can choose to do so by opening Windows Update Settings and selecting Check for updates,” Microsoft said in the latest update on the Windows 11 Health dashboard.
