Desktop widgets, adaptive wallpapers, and so much more

Windows 11 is already considered the most advanced Windows version ever released by Microsoft, and this is why users expect Windows 12 to push everything to a completely new level.

While Windows 12 continues to be one big mystery for pretty much everybody out there, users already know what they want the operating system to bring new to the desktop experience.

As such, concept designers can use all the available information to create their own digital projects envisioning the upcoming operating system, and this is precisely the case with the so-called “Windows 12 – the biggest update to desktop” concept.

As you can see in the video below, this concept proposes lots of modern upgrades, including widgets that can be pinned to the taskbar in a way that makes so much sense. Ever since Microsoft pulled the desktop widgets in Windows 7 and brought live tiles to Windows 8, a way to bring modern widgets to the desktop seemed to fit the operating system like a glove.

However, the software giant just decided to stick with a dedicated widget screen, already available in Windows 11, and focus on a modern desktop experience built around a centered taskbar and a slightly refreshed system tray.

The concept created by Kamer Kaan Avdan reimagines everything on the desktop.

“Meet the new Windows 12. The biggest update to desktop since the desktop. With adaptive wallpapers your desktop brings forward the things you love most in a beautiful way. Now you can add widgets to your Taskbar and it dynamically adapts to the changes you make. The biggest leap forward to Taskbar since the Windows XP,” the video description reads.

As for Windows 12, some people seem to expect it to launch in 2024, but for the time being, Microsoft’s only focus is Windows 11 and the three big updates coming next year.
