Widgets are getting quite a lot of love from Microsoft these days, and this time, it appears that the company is preparing a little surprise for version 21H2.

More specifically, the software giant seems to be working on an updated Widgets experience for users currently running Windows 11 version 21H2.

As noticed by PhantomOcean3 on Twitter (and reported by Neowin), Microsoft is further refining Widgets on Windows 11 version 21H2 with an approach that seems inspired by updates that went live most recently in the Windows Insider program.

For example, the new Widgets UI now comes with a banner at the top of the screen, though for the time being, it looks like it’s being activated only with a server-side switch. The banner provides quick access to other features, and it allows users to expand the Widgets screen and add new widgets.

Widgets are a new feature that went live in the original version of Windows 11 and which has since been updated with lots of improvements.

“Widgets are small cards that display dynamic content from your favorite apps and services on your Windows desktop. They appear on the widgets board, where you can discover, pin, unpin, arrange, resize, and customize widgets to reflect your interests. Your widgets board is optimized to show relevant widgets and personalized content based on your usage,” Microsoft explains.

“Open the widgets board from the left corner of your taskbar where you see the live weather icon.  Widgets help you stay on top of what’s important to you by bringing together personalized content from your favorite apps and services so you can have the latest info at a glance throughout your day. Say goodbye to constantly switching between apps, devices and websites—now you can stay connected to the things you care about without losing focus on your most important tasks.”
