This isn’t much but it helps discover taskbar benefits

The latest Windows 11 preview builds have brought a plethora of new features to users in the Dev channel, and the most recent release made no exception.

One of the smaller refinements but which make so much sense going forward concerns the Get Started app that is bundled with Windows 11.

Beginning with Windows 11 build 22579 (available in the Dev channel as we speak), the operating system’s Get Start app allows users to also pin sites to the taskbar, including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and eBay.

The new option comes as part of the screen where Get Started recommended the installation of Microsoft Store apps, and in theory, it’s supposed to help you access certain websites and services much more conveniently right from the taskbar.

“We have added pinned site suggestions to the Get Started app so you can conveniently pin websites to your taskbar. To find this new feature, launch the Get Started app and navigate to the “Apps and sites we think you’ll love” page. Click on any of the sites suggested on the page to pin it to your taskbar so you can access the sites you care about in one-click. Please file feedback in the Feedback Hub (WIN + F) under Apps > Get Started,” Microsoft explains.

Currently in Dev builds

At this point, this improvement is still part of the Windows Insider program, and we don’t have an ETA related to its possible production launch.

Worth knowing, on the other hand, is that some of the ideas that Microsoft tests in Dev channel builds may not eventually make their way to production devices out there. This is because Dev builds are specifically used for trying out various improvements that don’t have a release date.

Of course, this Get Started tweak is unlikely to be a refinement that eventually gets dropped, so it’s now just a matter of time until it goes live for everybody.
