Three bugs now acknowledged by Microsoft

Released on July 12, Windows 11 cumulative update KB5015814 seems to be causing more problems on devices, with Microsoft now acknowledging a total of three different bugs.

According to the official KB page, the update now comes with three known issues.

The first of them is older, and it causes some .NET Framework 3.5 apps to no longer work. The issue has already been resolved, and you can turn to the built-in troubleshooter to deal with the whole thing.

“This issue should be resolved automatically via a Troubleshooter on affected unmanaged devices. If your device is managed by an IT department or with enterprise management tools, you might not get the troubleshooter automatically and might require the below workaround to resolve the issue,” Microsoft explains.

Then, the same cumulative is causing some IE mode tabs in Microsoft Edge to no longer work. Given Internet Explorer has been retired, the full focus is now on IE mode that comes bundled with Microsoft Edge, so a problem with this feature isn’t really good news.

A fix, however, is available this time as well.

“This issue is resolved using Known Issue Rollback (KIR). Please note that it might take up to 24 hours for the resolution to propagate automatically to consumer devices and non-managed business devices. Restarting your Windows device might help the resolution apply to your device faster. For enterprise-managed devices that have installed an affected update and encountered this issue can resolve it by installing and configuring the special Group Policy listed below,” Microsoft says.

And last but not least, it’s a third glitch that has also been corrected with a KIR. This time, the update causes the Start menu on some Windows 11 devices to no longer launch, and Microsoft says that only a very small number of computers ended up experiencing this problem.
