This is just a known bug in the latest preview build

One of the best new features that Microsoft has been experiencing with in the Windows Insider program, at least for me, is the support for seconds in the clock on the system tray.

This has long been one of my top feature requests, and given the company eventually decided to make it happen, it’s pretty clear that many others wanted the same thing as well.

In the latest Windows 11 preview build, however, the seconds appear to be missing, and while some seem to believe the company has decided to pull the feature, this is not the case.

It’s all a bug happening after installing build 25295, and Microsoft says it’s aware of the issue and already working on a fix.

“The ability to show seconds in the clock on the system tray, first introduced with Build 25247, has disappeared for Insiders after updating to Build 25295. We’re aware of the issue and this will return shortly in a new flight,” Microsoft explains.

Of course, this isn’t the only known issue in the most recent Windows 11 preview build in the Dev channel.

Microsoft warns that in some cases, the facial recognition powered by Windows Hello isn’t going to work on ARM64 devices. As such, users need to stick with the PIN code when trying to log into their devices.

Microsoft says two more issues have been spotted in the latest preview build, though they are unlikely to affect home users.

“Some AAD (Azure Active Directory joined users are now seeing “Getting ready for you” screens when signing into Windows after updating the latest builds. We are investigating the issue. Some users are experiencing issues authenticating to enterprise websites that require windows integrated authentication. This will be addressed in a future update,” Microsoft says.
