The share of Windows 10 version 20H2 increases

New data shared by AdDuplex shows the share of Windows 10 version 20H2 keeps growing, only that it’s still not at the point where it can become the number one release in the Windows 10 world.

At this point, the top choice continues to be Windows 10 May 2020 Update, or version 2004, with a share of 39.8 percent.

Windows 10 November 2019 Update, or version 1909, is currently running on 31.2 percent of the Windows 10 computers out there, while the October 2020 Update now has a share of 16.8 percent.

According to AdDuplex, Windows 10 version 20H2 increased just by 3 percent in the last 30 days, but this kind of makes sense given the rollout most likely progressed at a slower rate because of the holiday season.

New update in the spring

The good news for Microsoft is that 0.2 percent of the Windows 10 devices out there are currently part of the Windows Insider program, and these help the company test drive new features in advance and prepare new releases for prime time. But on the other hand, there are also lots of devices still running older versions of Windows 10 – for example, Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and older releases currently have a combined share of 2.2 percent.

In the meantime, Microsoft is also giving the final touches to a new Windows 10 feature update that should go live in the spring of this year.

Just like version 20H2, this new release is likely to be just a small pack of improvements with the focus on under the hood polishing and not on new features. This is because Microsoft is changing its release calendar to bring smaller updates in the spring and bigger releases in the fall, so those hoping for new features would have to wait until the fall of the year this time.
