The Windows 10 version 1903 upgrade pace is finally gaining traction, as the most recent Windows 10 feature update is now running on 33% of all Windows 10 devices out there.

According to data provided by AdDuplex, this makes Windows 10 version 1903, or the May 2019 Update, the second most-used Windows 10 feature update. The leading choice is still Windows 10 April 2018 Update, or version 1803, with a 33.1% share.

However, the performance of the May 2019 Update is particularly important, as it managed to improve its usage share by no less than three times last month.

“The usage share of Windows 10 May 2019 Update (1903) has tripled since last month. It is now on 33% of more than 100,000 PCs surveyed worldwide,” the AdDuplex data shows.

Fewer devices on unsupported Windows 10 versions

With Windows 10 October 2018 Update, or version 1809, currently on 28.7% of devices, there are three Windows 10 versions with nearly the same share.

“We are in a historically unique situation where three versions of Windows 10 have almost equal usage shares. On the other hand, if upgrades continue at this pace, we will be back to the usual spread with two latest versions covering the vast majority of the PCs in use by this time next month,” AdDuplex explains.

Meanwhile, the share of older Windows 10 versions is declining, which is an indication that most devices are being updated to the latest releases.

Windows 10 Creators Update and older currently power only 2.8% of the devices, while Windows 10 Fall Creators Update has a share of 2.2%.

At the same time, 0.3% of the devices included in the research were running Insider builds, so they run unreleased Windows 10 feature updates, which can be either the 19H2 release coming this fall or the 20H1 update due in the spring of the next year.
