A new volume flyout design makes its way to Windows 10

As long-time Windows users already know, there are several highly-requested features in Windows 10, such as tabs in File Explorer, but in many cases, Microsoft just remains tight-lipped on the likelihood of bringing such capabilities to the operating system.

But as it turns out, the software giant is still getting the message, so despite not confirming it’s looking into such features, Microsoft actually does some work that could eventually lead to Windows 10 being improved according to user feedback.

Living proof is a new volume flyout design with updated media controls that made its way to the latest Windows 10 preview build.

Microsoft itself hasn’t announced this new feature, which is quite surprising given this is one of the most anticipated changes in Windows 10, but I’m guessing the company just remains silent on this because it’s a work in progress. So while no official information has been shared on the new volume flyout, the company will probably announce it in the release notes of a future preview build once it’s ready for testing.

Windows 10X-inspired design

Twitter user Albacore came across this new design, which more or less seems to be inspired by Windows 10X – this is actually a good thing, as users have been drooling over some new features bundled with Windows 10X, including the Start menu and the volume controls themselves.

Of course, there’s no guarantee that this feature would make its way to production devices, especially since we’re so early in the development process. Microsoft could very well kill it off overnight if it doesn’t like how the project evolves, so fingers crossed for everything to go as smoothly as possible.

As to when we could get the updated volume flyout on production devices, nothing is certain at this point, as the Fast ring builds are now being used to experiment with new features without a specific release date.
