Creators Update now pushed to branch rs2_release

Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 build 15031 earlier today, and in addition to the changelog the company provided to insiders as part of the release, it also made a change that’s not noticeable at first glance.

Windows 10 build 15031 is part of the rs2_release branch, so Microsoft is making the switch from prerelease to release, which means the firm is taking a major step towards finalizing the Creators Update.

What does this mean for users? First and foremost, beyond this point, no new features will be added, so the upcoming builds would only bring improvements and bug fixes for the existing features that are already available for Windows 10. Some new options might still show up, but it’s only because they’re being worked on internally at Microsoft but not yet public.

For Microsoft, Windows 10 build 15031 marks an important milestone that brings it one step closer to the release of the second major OS update after the Anniversary Update, as it includes a long list of improvements and new features to pretty much all devices.

Builds full of bug fixes coming in the next weeks

With Windows 10 Creators Update now being feature-locked, it’s all just a matter of time until Microsoft completes development of the final build, and just like before, insiders are projected to be the first ones getting it sometime in the coming weeks.

According to people close to the matter, Microsoft will release the Windows 10 Creators Update in April, so the company still has some 2 months to get everything right before everyone gets the new OS update.

New builds will continue to arrive for insiders and there’s a good chance that the company accelerates its release cadence as it delivers fixes for reported bugs, so expect the next few weeks to be quite busy for both the company and its insiders.

A bug bash is already under way in order to help Microsoft find and fix issues before the public release, so if you’re an insider, make sure you join this effort and help the company improve the Creators Update before the public launch.
