Here's what's likely the final version of Windows 10 Mobile

Today Microsoft has released Windows 10 Mobile build 10586 for members of the fast ring, with the company focusing specifically on bug fixes and performance improvements to the platform and the integrated apps.

But what's more important is that Windows 10 Mobile build 10586 is believed to be the RTM version of the operating system (RTM is no longer a term used by Microsoft, given the fact that the company now focuses on Windows as a Service, so it's a continuous release for the new OS), which everyone could receive in just a few weeks.

Microsoft has already confirmed that insiders will get the final version of Windows 10 Mobile ahead of everyone else, and this could be living proof that 10586 is the actual RTM.

Public launch in December

We're also hearing that the new OS is feature-complete, and Microsoft's only working on bug fixes and other small improvements, especially because the public release is just around the corner.

“This build for mobile has a lots of good bug fixes and general improvements for you to check out. Overall this is a really great build, and we’re excited to get it out there for all of you to try,” Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, says in a post.

While there still are some known issues in this build, there's no doubt that it's the fastest and most reliable so far, which pretty much makes sense, given the fact that development is very close to completion.

And yet, when running on a Lumia 930, for instance, Windows 10 Mobile still causes the device to overheat, and this could be a sign that certain optimizations on some phone models are still needed. Either way, expect the OS to work more smoothly on newer devices such as Lumia 950 and 950 XL, which are both scheduled to go on sale these days in the US and the rest of the markets.
