T-Mobile Poland releases W10M for Lumia 640

Microsoft hasn't yet announced the release date for Windows 10 Mobile, but it turns out that some devices are getting the upgrade to the new operating system as we speak.

T-Mobile Poland is now shipping Windows 10 Mobile to the Lumia 640, and according to a new report, the firmware version is bumped to 02177.00000.15184.36002 in order to receive the upgrade to the new OS. Not all customers are seeing Windows 10 Mobile for now, as the carrier releases the update in waves, so if you're on T-Mobile Poland and it's not there yet, check again in a few hours.

The new bits are delivered to phones over the air, but you can also go to the settings screen and look in the phone update section to see if it's already available for you.

Still no announcement from Microsoft

Even though a number of devices are now getting Windows 10 Mobile, an announcement from Microsoft is yet to come, so it's very hard to estimate when the new operating system could launch for your carrier and Windows Phone device.

What we do know, however, is that Windows 10 Mobile will be released in stages to handsets running Windows Phone, so not everyone will be getting it today or in the coming days. According to previous reports, the first wave would include Lumia 640 (which is receiving the update right now), 640 XL, 830, and 930, with the new Lumia 950 and 950 XL to also get a small update that'll bring them fully up to date.

We've reached out to Microsoft for more information on the Windows 10 Mobile rollout, but for the moment, nobody knows for sure when the new OS will be pushed to devices outside Poland.

The company itself previously informed us that Windows 10 Mobile would land on Windows Phone devices in early 2016, with people close to the matter saying that mid-January was the most likely date.
