14 DAY TRIAL // Hell might be freezing over because AT&T and Verizon have just started rolling out Windows 10 Mobile to some of the Windows phones in their networks, after so many months since Microsoft actually released the operating system.
Dona Sarkar, the new head of the Windows Insider program, has revealed the news on Twitter, and an AT&T employee has confirmed it on the company’s support forums, explaining that the Lumia 640 is getting the update OTA with the help of the Upgrade Advisor app.
As far as Verizon is concerned, the company has also confirmed the rollout of Windows 10 Mobile to Lumia 735, with the official support page indicating that the new software version is 02171.00002.15194.03084.

Both AT&T and Verizon are upgrading their Windows Phone models to Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.218, but rest assured because new cumulative updates are being released by Microsoft frequently, so you shouldn’t have to wait too long for improvements. Patch Tuesday, for instance, might bring us Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.338.
In order to get the Windows 10 Mobile on AT&T and Verizon devices, users need to install the Upgrade Advisor app, which is responsible for checking the device for compatibility problems and preparing it for the switch to Windows 10.
The release of Windows 10 Mobile for AT&T and Verizon phones comes at a time when everyone’s already looking forward to the Anniversary Update, a huge update prepared by Microsoft for both PCs and smartphones and that will bring a plethora of improvements on all devices.
Rumor has it that the Anniversary Update is already feature-locked, so Microsoft is no longer working on new features, but on fixing bugs and improving performance ahead of the big launch planned for July.
