As expected, Microsoft released another Windows 10 Mobile preview build for Insiders. The new build doesn't really bring any new features, but there are quite a few bug fixes included.

So, if you're a Windows Insider that opted for the Fast ring, you will now be able to upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile preview build 10581. This preview build doesn't require you to go back to Windows Phone 8.1 like the preview version.

According to Microsoft, they have fixed the bug preventing upgrades from earlier builds, so no matter what version of Windows you have on your smartphone, you will be able to update to build 10581.

This is great, but the bad news is this build doesn't really bring any major new features. On the other hand, the official changelog mentions lots of bug fixes, so at least that's a plus.

First of all, for devices upgraded from Windows Phone 8.1 (Lumia 930, Lumia Icon, and Lumia 1520) that had “Hey Cortana” feature will have the functionality repaired, so you can now enable it from Settings / Extras / Hey Cortana.

Better battery life, lots of fixes

Furthermore, Insiders will now be able to select photos for sharing via third-party apps like Facebook, Messenger, Instagram Beta, and WhatsApp. This feature did not work on the previous Windows 10 Mobile preview build, but now it's been returned to users.

More importantly, battery life should be improved in this build since Microsoft addressed some bugs that were heavily impacting on it.

Microsoft also stated that it has fixed an issue where users couldn't choose some apps to show quick status on the Lock screen via Settings / Personalization / Lock Screen.

Some improvements have been implemented too, such as the video recording functionality, text prediction and auto-correction and Visual Voicemail sync, which should now work as intended.

Last but not least, some dual-SIM issues that were introduced in build 10572 have been fixed, along with a bug found with the same build where the Chinese Pinyin QWERTY keyboard stopped working after upgrading from Windows Phone 8.1.
