Microsoft has just released new cumulative updates for Windows 10 PCs, but since the company is trying to keep all its devices in sync, it also rolled out an update for phones running Windows 10 Mobile too.

The May cumulative update for Windows 10 Mobile pushes version number to 10586.318 and is all about improvements and fixes, so if you were hoping for new features, you are out of luck.

It’s clearly an update supposed to improve the overall performance of the operating system and this is mostly the focus of all cumulative updates after all. They rarely bring new features, and in the case of devices still running 10586, it’s hard to believe that they would get anything else other than improvements and fixes anytime soon.

What’s new in Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.318

As far as the content of the update is concerned, this new version brings improvements for the update system to correct a bug causing some phones getting errors 0x800f081f or 0x80070570 when trying to download updates using the built-in system.

Additionally, it also features improvements to the reliability of USB-C connections and Lumia 950 and 950 XL device owners are specifically targeted by this change.

Microsoft says that this update includes “improvements Cortana, including a fix for a problem where music playback would not resume after dismissing an incoming text, and a problem with Quiet Hours not setting automatic rules for every day.” So yes, the personal assistant is one of the features that just got better with this cumulative update.

Other than that, there are also minor optimizations here and there, but you can check out the full change log in the box after the jump. In order to download the new cumulative update, all you have to do is to tap Settings and go over to Update & Security > Phone update > Check for updates. Make sure your phone is charged or connected to a charger.
