Microsoft is working to improve the experience that users get with the Settings screen in Windows 10 Mobile, so the next preview build of the Anniversary Update will bring new icons in the configuration menu.

As noted by Corecast on Twitter, the new icons are currently part of Windows 10 Mobile build 14342 and are very likely to be included in the next insider releases scheduled to go live this week. It’s not yet clear if this is the same build that could be pushed to users, but the chances are that these icons will be part of it no matter the version.

Previously, Microsoft used only generic icons for the Settings screen, so with this change, the company is giving a fresh touch to this side of the operating system.

There are lots of new icons available at this point, including for Narrator, Date & time, Kid’s Corner, and others. Microsoft has also changed the Start icon to a version that puts live tiles in the spotlights, and also redesigned the Lock screen and Glance screen icons with new modern-looking elements. The Navigation bar has moved from the generic gear settings icon to its very own icon as well.

New build coming this week

The Windows Phone community usually enjoys this kind of improvements, especially because they make the operating system more visually appealing. Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile are already considered to be the most beautiful mobile platforms on the market, mostly thanks to live tiles, so these modern touches can only be a step forward in this regard.

The next Windows 10 Mobile build is expected to see daylight this week alongside its PC sibling, after Microsoft decided to delay both of them last week because of a critical bug discovered at the last minute.

The build will be part of the Anniversary Update launching in the summer and bringing many other improvements, including extension support on PCs and a swipe navigation gesture support on mobile.
