Windows 10 build 14383 went live a few hours ago for PC and mobile, and since it’s one of the last builds that Microsoft plans to roll out before the debut of the Anniversary Update, it comes with an important collection of bug fixes and performance improvements.

And as far as Windows 10 Mobile is concerned, build 14383 includes several key fixes, including one that reduced battery usage when you simply turned the screen on and off to take a peek at the lock screen.

We all do that several times a day, and it’s very clear that an improvement in this regard certainly comes in handy, especially because we look at the lock screen more than we should - especially given the fact that Glance screen is there to let us know whenever a notification is available.

Gaming performance improved

Additionally, Microsoft has also included a fix that improves the performance of the operating system on lower-end devices, such as the Lumia 535. “We fixed an issue resulting in many Windows Phone 8.1 games seeming to play in slow motion on certain devices,” Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider program, explains, so if you were using your Lumia device to play games, this build should make everything smoother.

In case you’ve noticed issues affecting the proximity sensor, Microsoft took care of that too, and with this build, the behavior of devices returns to normal. Notifications that previously showed up while the screen was off ignored the current state of the proximity sensor, so the phone’s display was turned on no matter if the device was in a pocket or in a purse. This obviously led to accidental screen presses, so Microsoft says that everything should be fixed now.

There are plenty of other fixes in this build, and you can read them all in the box after the jump. The Anniversary Update is scheduled to launch on August 2, and this build is one important step towards the final build that will be released to insiders in just a few weeks.
