App no longer available for download on Windows 10 devices

USAA is the most recent company that decided to abandon Windows, but the bank says goodbye not only to phones but also to devices running Windows 10, including PCs.

The company is now pointing users to the website instead of the app, and a support engineer said in a post that Windows 10 is no longer a supported platform.

“Unfortunately, we no longer provide support for the USAA mobile app via Windows phones. Based on feedback, we have made the decision to focus on enhancing the service through platforms most used by our members.  We are working diligently to update the website to avoid any confusion, and apologize for any inconvenience this causes,” the post reads.

USAA has rarely updated its Windows client and the app hasn’t received improvements in a long time, so at some level, this decision is not at all surprising.

App removed from the Microsoft Store

But even if the company completely ignored the app, it was still running fine and was available for download from the Microsoft Store anyway, letting bank customers access their accounts from Windows devices.

Following this announcement, however, the USAA app is now longer listed in the Microsoft Store and using the direct link indeed opens the product page, but with no download link being offered. Instead, the Store listing says the app has been removed, and customers have no other option than to turn to the company’s website.

Of course, Android and iOS continue to be supported, and USAA is committed to delivering further improvements to users on these two platforms. In fact, Android and iOS have been the recommended destination for Windows 10 Mobile for a long time, and despite some diehard fans still refusing the switch, it’s all just a matter of time until more develops pull their apps from the Microsoft Store as well.
