Microsoft’s Continuum, which allows a Windows 10 Mobile to be connected to a bigger screen, such as a TV or a screen projector, has paved the way for a new category of devices, and it appears that manufacturers around the world have already spotted this opportunity.
Such an example is NexDock, a new device that’s currently available for crowdfunding on IndieGogo and that allows a Windows 10 Mobile device to become a 14-inch laptop with the help of Continuum.
Basically, what this device does is offer a screen and a Bluetooth keyboard with touchpad included to connect your Windows 10 Mobile phone with Continuum support and use it like a regular laptop.
The laptop weighs just 1,400 grams and has a 14.1-inch display with a resolution of 1366x768 pixels while also offering a 10,000 mAh battery, miniHDMI port, 2 USB ports, 1 TF card slot, and one 3.55 headphone connector.
Support for Raspberry Pi and Mini PCs too
In addition to Windows 10 smartphones, NexDock can work with a wide variety of other devices based on the very same system, thus letting you have your personal laptop with you wherever you go.
“Thanks to mini HDMI-in port - the innovative NexDock let you get the most out of many other devices just plugging in. The monitor with built-in battery and Bluetooth keyboard lasts days for all other devices. NexDock is designed to go anywhere you want to go and do everything you want to do along the way,” the company behind the device explains on the IndieGogo page.
The most appealing thing about NexDock is the price, as backers can get it for just $99 (€85), with estimated delivery scheduled for June 2016. Keep in mind that you also need a Continuum-capable Windows 10 Mobile device, such as the Lumia 950 and 950 XL, and a Display Dock adapter to use the feature.
