Designer envisions new updates for Windows 10 Mobile

Microsoft is already working on improving Windows 10 Mobile with help from insiders, but it’s no secret that things are evolving way more slowly than users actually expected.

As a result, it’s no surprise that designers across the world create concepts imagining more dramatic changes in Windows 10 Mobile, obviously with hope that Microsoft sees them and implements some ideas in the final version of the operating system.

This is the case of this new concept published on DeviantArt by user bannax1994 and which imagines a Windows 10 Mobile version that comes closer to the PC sibling by borrowing some features that were until now exclusive to desktops.

The PC taskbar

For example, the concept proposes a taskbar on smartphones that would provide access to quick controls such as settings, Wi-Fi, airplane mode, current time, and a shortcut for the Action Center. Although this looks good in the concept, we’re not entirely sure a taskbar would be so easy to use on a smartphone, but as usual, Microsoft can further improve this idea using more advanced designing skills.

The concept also comes with new notifications that look interesting, but whose design doesn’t necessarily align with the rest of the operating system. Notifications use solid colors instead of visual effects such as transparency and span across the entire screen.

“In the Start menu, the taskbar is positioned at the bottom of the screen, the notification icons are enclosed in a single in the bottom right icon (notifications center icon) and in their place appear quick settings (wifi, airplane mode etc .. ). With a click or a simple swipe towards another icon of the notification center, it opens a dropdown that shows the details of the notifications,” the designer explains.

It goes without saying that there are small chances to ever see this concept in production, but it’s an easy way to see how designers imagine Windows 10 Mobile in the future, especially in terms of visual improvements.
