Microsoft has just released a new Windows 10 Mobile build for fast ring insiders, and just as expected, this new version is more focused on bug fixes and less on new features.

Although it does bring some new goodies too, Windows 10 Mobile build 14356 comes with a huge collection of fixes, performance optimizations, and other improvements, so once you install it, noticeable speed increase and better reliability should be experienced.

And this does make sense. People with knowledge of the matter have said that Microsoft has already stopped developing new features for Windows 10 Anniversary Update, the release that all these builds are previews of, and is now trying to work at full speed on performance and bug fixing. So the Anniversary Update is now feature-locked, and this means that Windows 10 Mobile should now work a lot more smoothly on all devices.

Tens of bug fixes

First and foremost, it’s worth noting that this new build addresses a bug in the Health app used by Microsoft Band owners, which caused high battery usage on previous builds. So if you do use a Band device with your Windows 10 Mobile phone, make sure you update to this version to return to normal battery usage figures.

Additionally, this build includes improvements to the Glance screen, fixes for Settings app crashes and problems causing the keyboard not to come up in various universal apps such as Messaging, Edge, and Cortana, but also small tweaks here and there that contribute to the overall stability and usability of the OS.

In terms of known bugs, Windows 10 Mobile build 14356 has just three of them, including one impacting battery life on several devices. Additionally, Microsoft says that dual-SIM devices are suffering from a cellular data bug with a second SIM while others can’t get the new features integrated into Cortana to work correctly on their devices.
