Members of the Windows Insider program are probably aware of the fact that Microsoft will not launch any new Windows 10 Mobile builds this year.

However, the Redmond-based company has confirmed that new builds will be released early next year, which will probably make it to Lumia 950/950 XL owners as well.

According to a new tip received by NPU, the next Windows 10 Mobile version released by Microsoft is 11088, which was compiled on December 17.

Since the unreleased build was compiled a few weeks ago, Microsoft will have some time to make sure there will be no issues with the update.

Although the previous Windows 10 Mobile build did not add any new feature into the mix, the upcoming build will bring some new options, the same source claims.

No details on the new features yet

Unfortunately, no details on what these new features are have been mentioned in the tip, so we can only wait and see what surprises Microsoft has in store for Windows Phone users.

While the information hasn't been confirmed by Microsoft yet, the company has said that new builds will be coming in January.

So, even if it's not build 11088 that will be the first released in 2016, Windows Insiders shouldn't be worried as they will definitely have their share of updates.

In the same piece of news, Microsoft has also stated that there will be many Windows 10 Mobile builds released next year at a faster pace.

Sadly, this promise had been made before, but for various reasons, Microsoft did not manage to keep its promise. Hopefully, next year will be better for Windows Phone users, especially for those who own Windows Phone 8.1 handsets and were hoping to upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile in 2015.

According to Microsoft, Windows 10 Mobile will be available for Windows Phone 8.1 smartphones sometime next year, so let's hope that will happen sooner rather than later.
