A new cumulative update is available for fast ring users

Microsoft has just released a cumulative update for Windows 10 Mobile insiders that upgrades devices to version 10586.71 and brings a number of performance improvements and bug fixes.

Just like in the previous releases, there’s no new feature in this build, but only optimizations and fixes supposed to improve the overall reliability and stability of the operating system. At the moment, this update is only available on devices enrolled in the fast ring of the Windows Insider program, but depending on the number of bugs and issues that will be discovered, it could be released to slow ring users too.

The update is shipped with a configuration update that was released on Friday, but in case you haven’t installed it just yet, you’ll get the patch together with the new build. Microsoft says that this configuration update is supposed to improve the update experience on Lumia devices and make sure that you’re getting builds correctly in the coming weeks.

Improvements based on feedback

Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, said in a post that this new release is entirely based on consumer feedback and is supposed to correct the problems that users have discovered in the previous versions (you can find the full list of fixes right after the jump).

“We have continued to address feedback we receive on Windows 10 Mobile as well as the upgrade experience from Windows Phone 8.1. In some cases, these improvements will only be seen when upgrading from Windows Phone 8.1 such as improvements in cellular and Wi-Fi data profile migration or the availability of SensorCore API’s,” Aul explained.

While seeing a new build going live on Monday is certainly unusual for Microsoft, it’s very clear that the company wants to accelerate the release cadence and bring new updates to insiders at a faster pace than before. There’s still no word on when the upgrade version of Windows 10 Mobile for Windows Phone users could land, but rumor has it that it could launch later this month.
