Windows 10 Mobile users are yet to receive the Anniversary Update, but in the meantime, Microsoft is preparing another cumulative update that could be released as soon as Tuesday.

Microsoft is “celebrating” Patch Tuesday next week, and just as usual, the company is expected to roll out new cumulative updates for Windows 10 devices, including PCs and smartphones running Windows 10 Mobile.

And according to a tweet from Core Insider Program, this next cumulative update for mobile phones is very likely to be 10586.545 and will land on Patch Tuesday.

No details have been provided, but we know that this particular version had already been compiled on August 2, so Microsoft has plenty of time to try it out before releasing it to users on August 9.

Anniversary Update on August 9? Not really

Ironically, Patch Tuesday takes place on August 9, the same day when Microsoft was said to launch the Anniversary Update for Windows 10 Mobile devices, according to a tweet from Lumia India. The chances are that this post was inaccurate (and the tweet has already been deleted), as Microsoft is quite unlikely to release Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update on Patch Tuesday together with so many other updates.

As far as the aforementioned cumulative update is concerned, it won’t bring any new features, but only improvements and fixes, as this is actually the purpose of these updates.

Furthermore, since the Anniversary Update release is expected to be just around the corner for mobile devices, it could come with improvements that prepare the transition to Windows 10 Mobile, although this thing remains to be seen. Retail users will get this update too on Patch Tuesday.

For the moment, nothing has been confirmed, so take this report with a pinch of salt. But given the fact that new cumulative updates land every Patch Tuesday, expect a new one to be released for mobile devices this time too, no matter the version.
