Microsoft has just launched a new Windows 10 Mobile preview build for users enrolled in the Windows Insider program, and as we told you yesterday, the version number of this new release is 10586.29.

As compared to the previous versions, Microsoft calls it a cumulative update, and this is one of the reasons this build will appear as 10586.29. Build 10586 is believed to be the RTM that everyone will get in the coming weeks, so Microsoft is now only releasing revisions of the original.

“Today we are releasing our first Cumulative Update to the Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 10586 to Insiders that begins addressing this feedback. The first thing you will notice with this Cumulative Update is it will use the minor version for differentiating between each version as these builds only contain fixes to the Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview build already in the Fast and Slow rings. So this build will appear as 10586.29,” Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, explained.

All in on bug fixes

Since this is just a cumulative update, there are no new features and everything is about fixing bugs and improving performance of the operating system.

Saul says that Edge browser performance and stability has been improved, with auto-completion one of the features that the company has specifically focused on. Additionally, Bluetooth stability improvements are also included, and so are data fixes for issues experienced when switching the active cellular connectivity profile on dual SIM devices.

Last but not least, Microsoft has focused on improving the upgrade experience on Windows Phone devices, as it's getting ready to push this version to devices.

“You will see additional improvements in upgrade experience, including devices with limited free space, map rendering on update, and RCS enabled device settings,” Aul said.

Keep in mind that this version is only available for Windows Insider program members, so it won't show up on Lumia 950 or 950 XL despite the fact that it's just a cumulative update.
