New version shows up in logs, could be released to users

Microsoft is expected to launch a new Windows 10 Mobile build for insiders as soon as this week, and now more information emerges on the version of this new release.

Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.17 has recently been spotted in logs, and BuildFeed claims it was compiled on November 21, so this could be not only the version that insiders are expected to receive very soon but also the one that might be shipped to the public.

Pundits previously suggested that Windows Phone users could finally be allowed to upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile in early December, and Microsoft itself has confirmed on the official Lumia account on Facebook that this is indeed the case. No specifics have been provided, though, so early December is the closest date we’ve received so far.

This could be the one

Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.11 to insiders in November, and everyone believed this was the RTM version that could also be shipped to general users, but it appears that the company needed more time to introduce fixes and other performance improvements, so .17 could actually be the one.

If a new build indeed launches this week, today is the most likely day to see it go live, as Microsoft doesn’t usually release them on Monday, Friday, or weekends. So it’s either today, tomorrow if Microsoft makes an exception, or next week if more time is needed to prepare the release.

Obviously, it’s too early to speculate if any big changes will be included, but given the fact that Microsoft focuses more on bug fixes and general performance improvements, expect the upcoming version to be mostly about these and less about new breaking updates. This actually makes sense, given the fact that the general release is just around the corner, so fingers crossed for the new build to be RTM too.

Thanks for the tip, @vickymhatre6!
