Microsoft has already finalized the next Windows 10 feature update, which will be called May 2020 Update and also be referred to as version 2004, but we still don’t know when exactly this is supposed to ship to production devices.

And while the software giant tries to remain tight-lipped, it looks like someone at Microsoft has revealed more details as to when we could expect the rollout of the May 2020 Update to kick off.

In an updated driver shiproom schedule spotted by WL, Microsoft lists May 26, May 27, and May 28 as dates used by new Windows 10 feature updates, meaning these could be the days when the rollout of the new version 2004 could finally begin.

Any of these three days could be used for the May 2020 Update rollout kickoff, albeit information that made the headlines lately indicated that the chosen date could be May 28.

Last week of May

For now, all signs seem to indicate that Microsoft wants to release version 2004 in the last week of May, and today’s revealing corroborates this information.

Windows 10 May 2020 Update is one major feature update that comes after the service pack-like November 2019 Update. It includes plenty of major changes, including Windows Update refinements, search improvements, File Explorer tweaks, and so much more, and Microsoft will use the typical gradual rollout to push it to devices across the world.

In other words, devices will receive it in stages as the validation phase is complete, as Microsoft wants to make sure that no major bugs are discovered. If they are, the rollout to potentially impacted systems is immediately suspended until a fix is developed.

Alternative download methods, including standalone ISO images, will also be released after the rollout starts later this month.
