Adoption of Windows 10 has slowed down a little bit worldwide, but there are a few markets where the new operating system performs unbelievably well.

Denmark is undoubtedly the best example, as Windows 10 has managed to reach a market share of 20.91 percent here and got very close to leader Windows 7.

These figures are provided by StatCounter, who says that, in this particular country, Windows 7 continues to be the leading desktop operating system right now with a share of 36.42 percent. And yet, while seeing Windows 7 on the top spot is not at all surprising, the declining share is definitely a sign that everyone’s moving to Windows 10 sooner or later.

Windows 7 was previously installed on more than 50 percent of the world’s PCs, and its rapid decline shows that Windows 10’s arrival has surely had a big impact on its market performance in Denmark.

Windows 10, on the other hand, has performed unexpectedly well here, gaining an almost 21 percent market share in just 4 months. This made it the second most-used desktop operating system in the country, at approximately 15 percentage points behind Windows 7.

Windows XP going dark

While Windows 7 is the leader and Windows 10 is the runner-up, the third position goes to Mac OS X, which is still powering 19.41 percent of the desktop computers in Denmark. Windows 8.1 is next with 15.62 percent.

But old operating systems, which are still being used by quite a lot of people worldwide, are rapidly losing ground. Windows XP, for instance, is only powering 1.44 percent of the Danish computers, so it’s very close to its demise in the country. Windows 8 also has a very low share of 1.74 percent.

If the same trend is maintained, Windows 10 could become the number one operating system in the country in just a few months, and we’re pretty sure Microsoft would love to see that happening. Things are entirely different at a global level, though, where Windows 10 is still at about 10 percent market share.
