App updates being shipped to Windows 10 PCs daily

If there’s one thing that really deserves to be praised in Windows 10, it is the fast cadence of the built-in updates, as Microsoft rolls out new versions almost daily.

On the other hand, the bad thing is that Microsoft almost never provides release information, so it’s pretty much impossible to tell what’s new in the new versions we get.

And this is the case of today’s app update rollout, which includes new store improvements, Windows Calculator and Messaging + Skype updates.

In addition to these Microsoft apps, some others have also received improvements, including Twitter and Candy Crush Soda Saga, as you can see in the adjacent photo. But as is the case with Microsoft’s software, there are no release notes available for them either.

Bug fixes and improvements

Ever since it launched Windows 10 in late July, Microsoft has been updating its universal apps regularly, thus trying to keep them in sync with the versions available on Windows 10 Mobile.

But at the same time, the company has also worked to improve performance as much as possible, especially because it’s betting big on the concept of universal apps, which should boost developer interest in this operating system and make everyone forget about Android apps.

Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella himself explained that universal apps need more time to succeed, and the company itself wants to be the pioneer that shows everyone the benefits of such software. The former CEO Steve Ballmer said that universal apps had slight chances to gain traction for the time being and pointed out that bringing Android apps on Windows 10 Mobile was the only way to address the lack of apps that has also impacted Windows Phone.

For the moment, the company is still betting big on these universal apps, so time will tell if Microsoft’s playing the right card here or a different approach is needed.
