Microsoft all but confirms that build 16299.15 is RTM

Microsoft originally promised to confirm when the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update RTM build is compiled, but for some reason an announcement in this regard is nowhere to be seen despite development already close to an end.

Sources have revealed that the RTM version of the Fall Creators Update is ready and will only be getting updates and small fixes until the October 17 release, and insiders in the Fast ring can give it a try with build 16299.15.

In other words, Windows 10 build 16299.15 is RTM and despite not confirming it for everyone, Microsoft has just offered one big hint that this is indeed true: the same build was pushed to users in the Slow ring.

New ISOs also expected very soon

Microsoft typically releases new Windows 10 preview builds to the Slow ring when they are stable and reliable enough for users enrolled in this channel to try them out, and most of the time, the company also pushes new ISOs along with these builds. This means that Windows 10 Fall Creators Update RTM ISOs should land anytime soon as well, ahead of the October 17 launch for everyone.

The next step is to make the same build available for users in the Release Preview ring, though we also expect a bunch of updates to be shipped in the coming days. Microsoft has already confirmed that it wants to service build 16299.15 via Windows Update before the October 17 launch, so cumulative updates to fix last-minute bugs are very likely.

With the release of the Fall Creators Update now just around the corner, the Insider program should soon be upgraded to Redstone 4, which is the next Windows 10 update scheduled to go live in the spring.

Users enrolled in the Skip Ahead track are already getting early previews of RS4, but once the Fall Creators Update gets the go-ahead, all insiders should be migrated to these builds as well.
