14 DAY TRIAL // Windows 10 Mobile is still work in progress, and Microsoft plans to roll it out sometime later this month, but in the meantime, designers across the world create their very own interpretations of the smartphone operating system.
This is the case of the so-called Windows 10 Emerald, which is nothing more than a concept envisioning a new look for Windows 10 Mobile.
As you can see in the photos below, DeviantArt user lukeled, who is the creator of this concept, turned to a much simpler design for Windows 10 Emerald, which not only looks good but also makes more sense for some users. New live tiles have also been used on the Start screen, thus providing users with a wider array of choices when it comes to configuring the way their home screens look.
Redesigned notification center
But the concept isn’t only about redesigning the Start screen, but also about some other parts of the operating system that could be overhauled too.
For example, the notification center has also got a new look, which once again seems to blend well into the whole concept. Although some improvements are still needed (for example, the white-on-white quick toggles could be really hard to use on some phones), the concept imagines a much more dramatic overhaul of the operating system than Microsoft’s ready to go for in its new mobile platform.
According to people close to the matter, the real version of Windows 10 is projected to debut later this month on the new Lumia 950 and 950 XL, while all current models running Windows Phone are expected to receive it in December.
The operating system is pretty much feature complete right now, so if you’re already an insider running the OS on a Windows Phone device, the final product will be almost the same as the current version, but will come with some improvements in terms of performance and reliability.
