New concept imagines the new look of Windows 10 in RS3

Project NEON is an eagerly-awaited set of improvements for the Windows 10 UI, and since Microsoft is only expected to introduce it in the Redstone 3 OS update, designers use the current info to create their own concepts imagining what the desktop operating system could look like after the makeover.

This is also the case of the concept that you see here and which was posted online by reddit user Arvind11747 today (whose full portfolio is available on DeviantArt).

As you can see for yourselves, the concept envisions a completely redesigned desktop that features not only the blur and transparency effects that Windows 10 is rumored to come with thanks to Project NEON but also a new taskbar that looks super-clean and modern at the same time.

At first glance, everything makes sense and the concept looks really stunning, although there was some criticism regarding the padding of the taskbar icons. Surprisingly, this is the same padding that was used in the Project NEON leaks that reached the web not a long time ago, although the new icons indeed make it look like some precious taskbar space is being used for no reason.

As for Microsoft, the company should really have a look at concepts like this because they perfectly show how users want the operating system to look. We don’t expect the software giant to go for such a dramatic makeover, although it could align with its aim of making Windows more productive.

The next Windows 10 update is the Creators Update and is due in April, but given the fact that it’s already feature-complete, there’s no chance to see any other visual makeovers beside what we already have in preview builds.

On the other hand, the Redstone 3 update coming in the fall could bring a few surprises, especially given that Project NEON is on the company’s agenda and is expected to evolve a lot in the coming months after the Creators Update gets the go-ahead.
