First public cumulative update for Creators Update

Microsoft has released Windows 10 cumulative update KB4016251 for retail users who upgraded to the Creators Update manually, after previously testing this patch as part of the Windows Insider program.

This is the first public cumulative update for Windows 10 Creators Update and brings only four different fixes and, obviously, no new features. Cumulative updates are not supposed to introduce new functionality, but only fixes and performance improvements.

Windows 10 Creators Update cumulative update KB4016251 pushes build number to 15063.13, just like in happened in the Windows Insider program, and fixes an issue with Windows audio device graph isolation burning CPU-endless loop due to defective APOs.

Additionally, Microsoft has implemented a fix for installation problems with V3 XPS-based printer connections from non-1703 clients to 1703, while also repairing errors causing the Surface USB: Bluetooth radio to sometimes fail to re-enumerate during hibernate/resume.

And last but not least, there’s a fix for virus protection product driver install triggering a system crash on build 15060 configured with DeviceGuard. This last fix is mostly aimed at insiders, but retail users are getting it as well.

Installing fine for all users

Fortunately, there are absolutely no reports of failed installs with cumulative update KB4016251, and it looks like Microsoft finally managed to address the problems experienced in the past with these releases.

Cumulative updates have been quite troublesome for Windows 10 users, and not only that they failed to install on some PCs but they also caused various other problems like performance issues, crashes, and BSODs.

This no longer seems to be the case with the Creators Update, so you can proceed to install KB4016251 as soon as possible.

New cumulative updates for all Windows 10 versions are also expected next week, this time as part of the Patch Tuesday rollout, which means that the focus will be on security fixes. It remains to be seen if the upcoming cumulative updates will install correctly or not.
