Windows 10 Creators Update is expected to launch in April, according to a message posted by Fitbit on the company’s support forums, as part of a longer announcement regarding a private beta test for notification support on Windows 10 devices.

Microsoft hasn’t yet announced the release date of Windows 10 Creators Update, internally referred to as Redstone 2, but its partners keep teasing the April launch.

The first to do it was Dell, who confirmed earlier this year that Microsoft planned to launch the Creators Update in April. And now, it’s the turn of Fitbit to indicate the same release date in a message posted on its forums.

“We’re excited to announce that Fitbit will be introducing support for tracker notifications (Call, SMS, Calendar and third party apps) and Connected GPS for all Windows users on the Windows 10 Creators Update coming in April,” Fitbit said (emphasis is ours).

To launch as version 1704?

Rumors that reached the web in the previous months indicated that Microsoft could launch the final version of the Windows 10 Creators Update as version 1703, as the company planned the OS update to be ready for general availability in March.

It looks like that plans have since changed, and the target in now April, so Microsoft could, in the end, release the Creators Update as version 1704 - the version number is a direct hint at the release date, with the first two digits representing the year and the other two pointing to the month, in this case the fourth month of 2017.

It goes without saying that insiders will be the first to receive the final bits of the Creators Update, and the target still seems to be March, as Microsoft wants to make sure that everything would be ready for the public release.

Shortly after the Creators Update becomes available, Microsoft will switch insiders to a new branch in anticipation of the first Redstone 3 builds. The third large OS update is due in the fall, according to sources.
